  3.  @billrerikson6378  If not its underperforming military, then Russia's relatively small and poorly diversified economy disqualifies Russia as a superpower. Russia simply doesn't have what it takes.

  4.  @artemis549  Russians are easily the most numerous nationality in Europe, too, but they're still far from a majority. And the rest are banding together -- against Russia. Also, Ukraine doesn't come close to having the strongest military in Europe, but nonetheless it's bravely holding Russia's marauding Orcs at bay.

  6.  @Whoop8628  If you look at GDP per capita, then indeed Russia's economy is small. Putin promised to jack it up the Portugal's level within ten years of him assuming power, but after more than twenty years, it still remains a distant target. Putin's recurrent promises of diversifying the Russian economy is a similar moving target. Now more than ever, Russia struggles to produce even basic necessities.
