And to what end? The Russian soldiers clearly don't see the point, or they wouldn't flee or surrender so readily. The usually apathetic Russian people, too, are starting to wonder what purpose this misguided empire-building of Putin's serves.

@southpole4776 You're in denial. This is not defence in depth. This is the Russians being routed in depth. They fled the battlefield. Militarily speaking, it can't get more humiliating than that.

@southpole4776 There was no US rout in Fallujah. And Russia isn't striking back any time soon -- if ever. The units in question abandoned their armour. Some even threw away their personal weapons and stole civilian clothing and bicycles to make their escape. My guess is that we'll see regime change in the Kremlin before Russia can rebuild its military into a capable fighting force.
