@F0RG1V3N Ooh, you ad hominem'ed me right off the bat. That's doesn't bode well for your debating skills. Genuinely democratic countries have safeguards in place that prevent elected leaders from amassing too much power. We could discuss at length why these safeguards failed the Americans -- as evidenced by Trump's ascendance to power -- but to stay on topic, none of that excuses China's authoritarian leaders from refusing to introduce gradual democratic reforms that would put the nation on the road to becoming a modern, democratic society. You seem to agree wholeheartedly with the assertion that the mainland Chinese are to dumb to decide for themselves. Incidentally, I don't, but thanks for illustrating my point.

@F0RG1V3N "Punks," there you go again. You, sir, suck balls at debate. It just so happens India and China's northern neighbour, Mongolia, have democracy. Both rank lower than China in the human development index, suggesting they're behind China on education, too. Yet neither is a failed state -- in fact, India enjoys a faster growth rate than China, and this despite being "hobbled" by democracy. More excuses, please.
