@richardboote2370 MEPs are elected by the relevant electorates. How's this different from the House of Commons? Can you vouch for each and every British MP? It seems your problem is democracy. What would you like to replace it with?

@HealthExposedUK Which part of "representative democracy" don't you understand? Referendums are organised when the opinion of the electorate is sought on a matter of great importance. That happened in the UK with Brexit, right? Myself, I voted in a referendum about joining the EU. Parliament acted in accordance.

@HealthExposedUK I understand it perfectly. So you have a cynical theory that voting serves no purpose. Yet you don't bother to provide tangible examples that support your theory. What's dubious about the Brexit referendum? Do you dispute the outcome? War in Syria -- what's the relevance here? Did Assad organise a referendum where the Syrians could decide if they were going to have themselves a civil war and when the result has negative, Assad nonetheless went ahead and started a war against his own people?

John Burrett You're comparing apples and oranges. It should go without saying that we have MPs of our own as well, and as it happens, they have far fewer constituents than our MEPs. Or do you think we did away with our MPs when we joined the EU? You're funny.
