  3.  Bt Tan  Democracy is no assurance for good governance, but can any government be considered good if it lacks democratic credentials? No. The United States were recently downgraded in the Democracy Index on account of Trump being elected president. It wasn't so much the man himself, but the growing distrust in democratic institutions that led to theirs being reclassified as a flawed democracy. Even so, they've been long surpassed in the rankings. So, maybe you should look beyond Murica if you want to criticize democracy (and drum up support for authoritarianism)?
