@morbus85 Unless Russia foolishly triggers NATO's Article 5, there's no obligation on Croatia to do a anything the US says. You must be confused about how NATO operates. Its members can act on their own or in unison with a limited group of other NATO members, but in that case it's not a NATO op. It has happened before, and probably will again. No dramatic break-up resulted.

@Johno1992 That may be true, but as the cruise missile attacks against Assad's Syria proved, Russia can't effectively counter those either. Russia's much-lauded, state-of-the-art Pantsirs couldn't make a difference. Hypersonic missiles, which are admittedly even harder to counter, are causing a minor shift in balance, but a game changer they're not. Besides, we've seen countless of times how the Russians congratulate themselves with having superior weapons, but more often than not they turn out to be flawed, unready or simply unaffordable to them in significant numbers.

@morbus85 You may want to read up on the Iraq War to educate yourself. The US very much wanted NATO's backing for invading Iraq, but a number of its European members were strongly opposed, most notably France and Germany. There was talk of rift in NATO, but NATO has only grown stronger since.

@mosog8829 Has accuracy really improved? The Israelis keep on making a mockery of Assad's air defences and their flash Russian AA kit. When the Israelis hit their first Pantsir, the Russians felt compelled to come up with elaborate excuses (something about a misplaced phone). Then the Israelis destroyed another two, perhaps just to see how the beet red Russians would explain that. This time, the Russians wisely kept mum.

@mosog8829 Let's just deal with the here and now, shall we? It's not only Israel that's knocking out Pantsirs at will. Turkey claims to have destroyed no less than 23 Pantsirs with their drones in Syria and Libya. Admittedly, Turkey has lost nearly twice that number in drones in doing so, but the win/loss ratio still seems favourable if you do a cost comparison. One can't help but conclude that the much-hyped Pantsir is more prey than predator to drones. Also, you have to wonder about Turkey's motives in purchased the S-400. I bet they are going to be very busy with testing how to take the S-400 out with a drone strike.
