Rather than single out one case, you should have a gander at carefully conducted research about free speech, freedom of the press, democracy, etc. None of them give much credit to Russia in those respects. It's quite the opposite, actually. The Democracy Index categorises Russia as 'authoritarian'.

  5. Russians are apathetic to the hilt. They don't care about their fallen in Ukraine, so this is of minor importance.
