@petersilas4234 What is there to understand about Putin's side? He brutally invaded a neighbouring country in an effort to subjugate it, utterly failed in this objective and is now stuck in quagmire, unable to extricate himself from an unpopular war. The only thing that keeps Putin going is the apathy of the Russian people. It all started because Ukraine wanted closer ties with the EU. Suspiciously, pro-Russian president Yanukovich made a sudden U-turn on the matter and as a result, had to flee to Russia to escape the wrath of the Ukrainians. For your info, neither the US nor the UK is a member of the EU.
