In the grand scheme of things, it hasn't been a total disaster. Germany sold hundreds and hundreds of ex-Bundeswehr Leopard 2s to Poland and Finland. Although the Cold War ended, neither of these two front line states let their guard down, while Germany naively disarmed, assuming that it would soon be BFFs with Russia. Common sense prevailed, just not in Germany.

@s.a.3894 You've got a bit of a dilemma on your hands. As a future NATO member, Finland is expected to come to the aid of these existing NATO members should they be attacked. Assuming you're a male without serious physical or mental impairments, you'll have to register yourself as a conscientious objector. Go for it.

@mrplease66 You must've missed Russia's top propagandist salivating on state TV at Russia drowning the Britain Isles with a nuclear torpedo, set go off near the coast. On the plus side, the Irish wouldn't pose a military threat any longer, because: a) they wouldn't exist; and b) neither would the Brits.

@PV1230 As it happens, I know a thing or two about Polish arms procurement. The Poles sure keep raising eyebrows among the cognoscenti. It's not so much what they choose, but that they keep choosing different things. Requirements change overnight, it seems.
