@hjjiang7766 China lends money for development projects, brings in their own workforce. Predictably, the Africans prove unable to service said loans, after which China seizes collateral or otherwise puts the screws on the poor buggers. Europe offers development aid, charges nothing, employs locals. Spot the difference? Neo-colonialism, development aid?

It's called contract manufacturing. It's shifting to even lower cost countries, away from China.

@郑宇-k2b I'm talking about development aid, i.e. not loans, whereas you're talking about interest rates, i.e. loans. You're confused. I'm sorry, I'm definitely in the Western world, but I can vouch that we've never-ever participated in any civil wars in Africa. Development aid, yes, lots and lots. Not too long ago, I commented to an unsuspecting wumao that "the East" bombs Syria. His indignation was palpable, but he didn't realise his hypocrisy. Maybe you're smarter?

@hjjiang7766 You, too, are falling for hasty generalisations. We have no colonial past, as in exploiting territories or peoples others than our own. I don't know if your social credit score takes a hit if you access Wikipedia, but the article there on colonialism makes for interesting reading, especially the part about Chinese colonialism. Like some European powers, China engaged in colonialism, but what's worse, unlike these former European colonialist powers, you're still at it, now in the form of neo-colonialism.

No biggie. We have our own democracies, a great many of which are judged superior to that of the US. Why the fixation with the US when democracy comes up?
