Germany has legislation in place that forbids arms exports to conflict zones. Laws can be amended. Don't get too fascinated. Fresh polls in Finland show that support for NATO membership now stands at 44%, while 25% remains opposed. A month earlier, the respective figures were 28% and 42%. I call that a rather dramatic reversal in fortune. Sweden, too, has seen a recent uptick in support for NATO, although the three camps -- the undecided being the third -- are still more evenly divided.

@mitseraffej5812 No, Europe chooses democracy, rule of law and self-determination. Russia isn't a fan of any of those. The US seems more in tune with Europe's aspirations. Russia is the odd one out.

How could NATO withdraw? Poland and the Baltic states are part of NATO and just as much as the rest. It's like you're saying that it's good that blood flow to some of your body parts isn't stopping. Riiight.

@MarszaekVideoStudio Does NATO have a standing army? If NATO were to stage exercises and the invitations intended for the US and Canada went to Sweden and Finland instead, would that be enough EU army for you?

@mitchreine3902 The Commonwealth most definitely doesn't have "more nukes." Aside from the UK, Commonwealth members India and Pakistan have them, but ironically, they've aimed them at one another. Anyhoo, the UK has 225 nuclear warheads, Pakistan 165 and India 160. The US has 5,550. Do your sums, kiddo. I find your argument about the Commonwealth army even more hilarious. I did a tour as a UN peacekeeper in Lebanon, but I wouldn't go boasting about an almighty UN army -- according to your logic, that's all the armies in the world put together. We were reduced to being a minor nuisance to the Israelis, who literally pushed us around in our peashooter-armed, thin-skinned APCs. Face it, the Commonwealth has a very fuzzy role. It has no collective defence or foreign policy, and thus makes no practical difference in the world. OK, I'll be generous, let's add "debate" to "sports and culture club."

@henryseidel5469 Maps aren't everything. Pakistan and India share a border, but that doesn't mean they're bosom friends. North and South Korea, same. You're not convincing anyone, I'm afraid. OK, I'm not interested in your thoughts about the US. You're making the Americans' heads swell by making everything about them.

I specifically asked you how Europe and Russia are supposed to have common security interests. You got a map out and noticed that the US isn't in Europe. Brilliant reasoning. Also, your ignorance is showing. There are no US nuclear missiles in Europe. There are air-dropped B61 bombs in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Turkey. If you want to fuss about nuclear missiles in Europe, Russia is your target. Russia keeps nuclear-capable Iskender missiles in Kaliningrad.
