@mrudul4150 You don't know what you're talking about. Only if a nuclear power faces an existential threat, it will resort to using nuclear weapons. If there were to do it for a lesser reason, that existential threat would materialise by itself. Since the threshold is so high, there will be an awful lot conventional warfare before the nuclear option is exercised.

@ruslankazimov622 As a matter of fact, the US engaged in large-scale conventional warfare against the Japanese before resorting to nuclear weapons in 1945. The battles of Midway, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Okinawa -- don't those ring ring a bell? The geopolitical situation was, of course, entirely different in 1945 than it is now. Japan didn't possess nuclear weapons, so the nuclear option was indeed an option.

@ruslankazimov622 Sure it was large-scale. The Battle of Leyte Gulf is considered the largest naval battle ever. 300,000+ casualties is steep for US forces, who're not known to piss away soldiers, unlike the Japanese and Soviets.
