@bobgonzales9680 All the while when being (militarily) neutral, Finland maintained a large reserve that has its equal only in Israel and Switzerland. So much for Finland trusting that neutrality alone thwarts Russia's unwelcome attentions. In fact, Russia ruined this neutrality when it invaded Ukraine. Finland and Sweden drew the conclusion that neutrality was pointless in view of Russia's renewed belligerence.

@louger-tp5pl Be that as it may, Russia's anti-air defences have proven ineffective against the West's missiles, and against stealthy cruise missiles in particular. It's somewhat unclear still to what degree that also applies to warplanes, but it doesn't bode well. I expect a tough times for Russia's "high-tech" arms exports -- if they ever get off the ground again.

@freemusicforyou2011 I happen to know a thing or two about the Estonians. In the early nineties, we trained their 'Kodukaitse' -- Estonia's fledgling home guard. Their motivation was topnotch. We had no weapons -- except for a single German WW2-vintage rifle that one of our trainee's family had kept hidden ever since. At the time Estonia was still brimming with Russian soldiers, who, unlike us, were armed to the teeth. It was the Estonians who reassured us, not they other way around.

@freemusicforyou2011 Since the Baltic Sea was renamed NATO Lake, the Baltic states aren't cut off by sea. Also, Lithuania has a border with Poland. In 1944, the Estonians demonstrated how defensible the eastern parts of their country are. Estonia is a very solid bridgehead for NATO.
