@GerardPedrico Having a nice monologue with yourself there? In reality, Communism is either a spent force, or a charade. Marx would have a hissy fit if he saw what it has all come to.

You're making too much out of it. Britain was making (some) amends. Exploitation in other forms persisted under British rule for long after.

@user-ju7dx8mu6d Some countries never had slavery to begin with. Britain certainly earned more from slavery than it spent on eradicating it. Furthermore, it took a French king to get the ball rolling in Britain.

@user-ju7dx8mu6d You know what I mean. Britain profited greatly from the slave trade, as in buying, transporting, selling and making slaves toil on British-owned plantations overseas. Many countries had no part in any of that. The Atlantic slave trade lasted from 16th to 19th century. Britain quickly became a leading player. The Royal Navy did suppress the slave trade from 1807 to 1860 -- after engaging in it for three centuries. So much for spending more on suppressing the trade than profiting from it. Don't worry about others' apologies for their misdeeds. You've got your own to make.

@mahutwe9728 Yup, Britain exited the slave trade when it wasn't profitable any longer.

@Samirustem That would open the floodgates for apologies to and fro. There would be no end to it.
