@Nick-kn6il I distinctly remember how the US wanted us to go to war in Iraq, but we weren't having any of it. How does that gel with your colony theory? Oh, and would you like to have Freedom fries with that?

@arazmammadov9276 So the Nordics decided to share their intel with the FBI? How nice of them.

Wrong continent, Mr. Murica.

Don't forget to mention the mighty Russian Navy, which manages to have its warships sunk by a navy without warships.

Can you hurt the sensibilities of a sea? I should think not, because a sea isn't a sentient being.

@VladimirStepanov-e6h Whoosh!

@bugazi3037 Methinks you didn't get it. Colour me unsurprised.

Not who, but what: common decency. We're not at war with Russia, although Russia needs to pretend otherwise in order to retain a smidgen of self-respect.

Let's put it this way: if the FSB chucks a notable Russian businessman or official out of the window, as they're wont to do, suicides by jumping out of a window are no longer possible?

@bvanderford What if NATO were to gather the troops, but word wouldn't reach the US, UK, Canada and Turkey? Would that be an EU army? Or is there a NATO army that is not a superset of this EU army?

@Nick-kn6il The EU isn't a military alliance. That's what NATO is for. Even so, defence is first and foremost a national affair to us. We never neglected our defence. In fact, when the other Western militaries -- including that of the USA -- started to disarm themselves when the Cold War ended, we used the opportunity to strengthen ours, taking full advantage of the buyer's market that existed then. In what is now a seller's market, others are spending billions to make their militaries fighting fit again, but ours always was.

@Nick-kn6il I posit that not even the US -- despite Trump's bluster -- carries its weight in NATO. Its 'extracurricular activities' eat up its defence budget to such an extent that perhaps only half of it can be considered earmarked for NATO. What came as a surprise to everyone -- the Americans included -- is that even in this day and age, Russia is still willing to fight a war of attrition, which not only ruins its economy, but also exacts a terrible toll in casualties on a country that already had a fast-declining population. To undergo something like that willingly is just unbelievable to us. We've completely underestimated Russia's brutality -- and the apathy of its people. Obviously we all need to prepare for a different kind of warfare.

@Paketspaketami-14pf Nah, we'd leave that to you Somali pirates, but you'd get the chills in the Baltic.

Remind us, how successfully did the Russian Navy protect Nord Stream?
