Comments by "peabase" (@peabase) on "EU's nightmare: Could Geert Wilders become the Netherlands’ next Prime Minister? | DW News" video.
It's good that you understand the problems associated with right-wing populism. I would say you're at step 5 -- acceptance -- already. Good job.

The future of the Dutch people will be bleak without immigration. The demographics are merciless.

@andreal5947 Were you born yesterday? Not enough babies.

@Rashidiill He's overcompensating.

@mensen4488 When the initial euphoria dies down, the surprise and euphoria will make place for disappointment in Wilders. Had his party not done quite as well, the PVV would've secured a place in government as a junior coalition partner. Since the roles are reversed, the chances of finding suitable coalition partners -- junior partners -- are slimmer. Wilders is a victim of his own success.

There must be an unwritten law that populists must sport a weird hairdo.

@arthuranydonuts923 Wilders gathered most of his votes from disgruntled voters. He's not denying that. That alone nicely fits the definition of populism. Incidentally, PVV voters are on average the least educated ones of all. Education and populism apparently don't go together well.

@4greendeep6 Ok, mythbuster, try to answer this question: is natality in the Netherlands higher or lower than mortality? You can slink back to your troll cave now.
1
@andreal5947 We're talking about the Dutch failing to crank out enough babies to make up for mortality.

@4greendeep6 You responded to my comment, so yes, it is the topic of our discussion. Shoo, off to your troll cave.

@tomedward8652 Did I specify in any way which immigrants are welcome and which aren't? Please don't use me as a springboard for your racist rants.

@gloriascientiae7435 Your synopsis is fine, but I fail to see the relevance. Frugality and lack of chauvinism have no bearing on natality.

@gloriascientiae7435 Over to you, how do you propose to solve the birth rate crisis? You can throw your toys out of the pram when immigration comes up, but how constructive is that?

Math isn't your forte. 24% is less than half of a majority. Moreover, populism is pandering to the disgruntled masses, which Wilders has now succeeded in. It's not something he's denying -- nor is anyone else for that matter. Hence, 'populist' is entirely fitting. Also, it's not the first time a right-wing populist party has suddenly risen to such heights in the Netherlands, but the previous phenomenon was of short duration. The party in question, the LPF, buckled under the strain when invited to co-govern. Wilders had better take note.

Rest assured, your far-right parliamentarians get to vote about the cabinet, just like all parties with seats in parliament. The "establishment and media" do not get to vote. It seems like you should get away from Belgium and its parliamentary democracy and head for one-party China. There, you don't have to choose between any parties. And you can pretend having an emperor in Xinnie the Pooh, which is not far off the mark.
