@meso8848 You gotta be kidding. Support for NATO membership became so overwhelmingly strong in Finland (and in Sweden, for that matter), that it shocked the politicians into action. Being politicians, they would've loooved to discuss the matter endlessly, but their fear of voter backlash was stronger. Democracy in action.

@fpxy00 You're not very clued in if you don't realise that North Korea is a democracy in name only. It's flattering, however, that even the most autocratic of nations have to pretend being democracies. It says something about its universal allure.

@maybe9617 Which promise is Finland breaking? Please be specific.

The Vikings weren't a thing in Finland. They tried, but struggled to gain a foothold.

@zanza8197 So those Russian "allies" would be Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, Mali, Nicaragua and Syria. A smattering of international pariahs and votes-for-hire, in other words.

You using the term 'scapegoat' implies that NATO is somehow making Finland invade Russia. That's your analysis? The most astounding thing is that commenters here praise you for your analytical skills.

Oh, Orban would sell Turkey down the river in a jiffy if there was something in it for him. And Erdogan vice versa.

Says a Malaysian, whose merdeka is a sham. You'll go on anyone's payroll -- Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, UAE...

No need to flaunt your ignorance. Knowledge is literally at your fingertips.

@millmoormichael6630 At any rate, Hungary imports a lot of Swedish taxpayer money. A bit less than before, but still a lot.

@loremaster7795 With great power comes great responsibility. There are political consequences to Turkey singling out with Sweden for punishment, while Turkey's conflict is with NATO as a whole. All the major NATO countries are sheltering Kurds and Turkish dissidents, all of whom Erdogan deems terrorists. They're all keenly aware of the fact, too. Erdogan is burning bridges left, right and centre. This can't be in Turkey's interest.

@menya00045 Russia and Turkey are frenemies at the best of times. They have conflicting geopolitical interests that would doom a military alliance from the start. Once upon a time, Turkey needed to ally itself with NATO on account of the Soviet Union, but that's ancient history. The Turkish military, with all its faults and shortcomings, is an easy match for Russia's military, especially now that Russia has suffered irreplaceable losses in Ukraine. NATO and Turkey can safely part ways.

@zanza8197 I didn't forget anything. None of the other BRICS members supported Russia at the UN.

@SuzannaKiraly So, if the EU -- according to you -- blackmailed Hungary, why does Hungary retaliate by blackmailing NATO? Hungary should make itself scarce from both organisations, toot sweet.

@sarwarjahan-ed4hs You didn't get the memo? Putin can't love India back. China wants things to be exclusive with Russia.

You're projecting. Your precious Russia needs to use brute force to gain "friends" -- but fails miserably at it, as the whole world can see.

@ammaralmihyawi3538 Don't give away that the Turkish parliament amounts to a rubber stamp.
