@MarincaGheorghe A mobile network maintains a register of which base station you're connected to and how good your connection is. With that info, it's easy to establish a search area. A search team with a radio direction finder will nab him in no-time. The only problem here is that the authorities have no idea who they're looking for -- or whose wife, for that matter.

@ГеннадийШуплецов-р8п The tsars, who busily kept adding territory to Imperial Russia, would've disagreed with you about Russia never having colonies. They even openly boasted about heir new acquisitions to the other colonial powers. The only difference with the latter is that Russian colonisation was overland, not overseas. And, perhaps most importantly, that Russia still hasn't properly decolonised.

@ГеннадийШуплецов-р8п Where did I go wrong? Russia demonstrably spent centuries conquering and colonising Eurasia. By and large, the conquered territories remain part of Russia to this day. Russia's government remains strongly centralised. Moscow has all the hallmarks of a present-day colonial power.

@colinjames2469 A VPN is not going to save him. The network operator will find him by his mobile number and not his IP address, so hiding the latter is of no help.
