  4. I'm a European and we've never looted Africa. Likewise, we endured colonialism but you'll never hear us make excuses. We have poured billions in development aid to Africa, even to the point of ensuring on the spot that it goes where's it's supposed to go instead of lining the pockets of Africa's corrupt leaders, as it would otherwise. Helping Africa overcome its chronic teething problems is a thankless task indeed. Grow up, finally.

  8. It's these never-ending coups that empower France as a regional force. If West Africa stands up for itself -- as in what ECOWAS is trying to do -- the role of France will be greatly diminished. No one will come a-knocking for French military assistance.
