@ It's not like DW's staff gets fired and rehired every time there's a change of government, or should I say, cabinet. Since we almost exclusively have parliamentary democracies in Europe, we tend to have coalition governments. Swings from one extreme to other are practically non-existent, unlike in a (your?) duopoly. But, the imagination of conspiracy artists knows no bounds. You take artistic liberties all right.

@huhujojo1968 Nah, that would be Murica. Fax machines and landlines are all but non-existent in Europe -- in the US, they're still easily found. I remember how the US struggled to adopt mobiles (cellphones in US parlance). Simple things like texting were still a mystery to most Americans, while the likes of the Philippines and even Iran were going nuts about it.

@ I reacted to your observations about fax machines, from where I extrapolated to mobile telephony. The US still trails Europe there. The Germans are keen on apprenticeships and on-the-job-training in general, by the way. To each their own.
