@blinbby8633 The Inuit emerged as the surviving indigenous culture, but genetically speaking the Inuit absorbed the Saqqaq who came before them. Something similar happened to the descendants of the first Norse settlers. They, too, got absorbed if they didn't leave first. Practically all Greenlanders have European DNA to some degree.

@Seastallion There's an agreement about 2% of GDP. Actually, the US itself spends about 1.7% on NATO. Someone ought to tip off Trump.

So, if Trump offers Greenland universal healthcare, as it enjoys already, how will he prevent medical mass tourism from the 50 US states to Greenland? Free higher education, same.

@Lawrence4000-s3k Are you sure the US bases outside of NATO's area of responsibility come absolutely free? Or the US Pacific Fleet: 250,000 Navy sailors and Marines, 2,000 aircraft and 200 ships? Are they unpaid volunteers and freebie kit? Besides, US defence strategy says that the US must be able to fight two major wars simultaneously and a few minor ones thrown in for good measure. I'm actually being generous when I suggest 2 as the divisor.

@stormhawk31 So, you intend to negotiate hard with the Greenlanders? Denmark has made it clear that the Greenlanders decide their own fate, not Denmark, nor Trump.
2
Huh? You're at odds with your supremo, divider-in-chief Trump, on that score. He wants Greenland, not an independent Greenland.

If the Greenlanders insists on keeping their welfare state while under US tutelage, it will bankrupt the USA, since Greenland will see a huge influx of Americans without proper healthcare and no access to higher education. Murica would swallow a poison pill, in other words.

@Lawrence4000-s3k In case you haven't noticed, Russia, China, North Korea and Iran are busily banding together in opposition of the US. If there's a showdown between NATO and Russia, China is bound to make sure the US Pacific Fleet is tied up in the Pacific, if only with its 'fleet in being'. The Norks and the Iranian theocrats are bound to stir up trouble, too -- in fact, they are already.

@Lawrence4000-s3k Which part of US defence strategy didn't you understand? Shifting forces from the Pacific to Europe comes at the expense of preparedness in the former. You can rest assured that if Russia were to go to war with NATO, China would make sure that the US Pacific Fleet remains tied up. It doesn't even have to come to a shooting war. Read up on 'fleet in being'. Chinese warships never have to leave port to pose a considerable threat.
