  1. Your irony is sadly misplaced. Russia isn't exactly a poster child for forest management. Every year, they have devastating forest fires, many of which they simply let burn out. If you want an example of responsible forest management, Scandinavia qualifies. Their livelihood depends on it.

  2. A good part of Russia has mostly pines trees occurring naturally. Pine trees thrive in cold climes.
