@mapogoktmr.trastabigmakdre939 Do you honestly think China is going to make any inroads in Afghanistan? The Afghans have shown the Communists the door already once. And the Afghans know full well how the Uyghurs are faring under Chinese tutelage.

So, are you saying that 'Eastern media' are rejoicing that Afghanistan is slipping back to the Middle Ages? Except for the Taliban, there are no winners, not in the East, nor in the West. You seem blinded by hatred.

@quirbyjohntong8169 True, it's not news that the Chinese have been trying to cash in in Afghanistan, but that's still a far cry from somehow replacing the Americans or threatening US interests. In fact, it would more accurate to say that the China equally loses out now that the Taliban are back. Chinese investments are going up in smoke.

@quirbyjohntong8169 China won't commit troops to Afghanistan. China was banking on NATO to provide security. Without security in place, any investment, Chinese or otherwise, is a waste.

I don't see much difference. There was no glory in the Soviet retreat. If it didn't lead to the USSR collapsing, it certainly hastened its demise.
