It's the Trump effect. Trump doesn't think or consult experts. He does and undoes and does.

@snoreberry1786 The US should try to become more competitive instead. Protectionism just worsens your competitiveness, because your lazy corporations can take it easier still.

@netiturtle By now, China by and large plays by international intellectual property rules. China has made great strides in becoming a IP creator itself, and it wants its own patents respected, too, which calls for reciprocity. Just don't try to contest their patents in a Chinese court of law. It's an exercise in futility.

@slapkit51 In 2017, Trump imposed a 300% tariff on Canada's Bomdardier jetliners at Boeing's behest, even if Boeing wasn't truly competing in the same segment. Long story short, Airbus took over Bombardier's production lines and ended up with a hot seller, eroding Boeing's market share further. Trump's love for tariffs didn't do America any favours. Tariffs aren't the answer, competitiveness is.

Whom are you critisizing, China or DW?

@jerry0947 Samsung has done an admirable job derisking vis-à-vis China. Its phones are made in Vietnam, India, Brazil and South Korea itself. Nothing in China.

I think he's trying to land a Nobel Peace Prize for ending the war in Ukraine. In all the wrong ways, too, I have to add. Let's hope he gets tired of winning losing and resigns.

@aslampervez2294 I can't decipher that. Also, I can't help noticing that you're not the OP.

@joshuarhoades2740 Actually, you will be fine. Whenever there's an economic downturn, the likes of BK and Mickey D's do better, because with less disposable income, people flock to fast food restaurants instead of more upscale establishments. McJobs galore!

@slapkit51 I'm aware that Airbus has an assembly site in Alabama, but are you actually claiming that final assembly of Airbus A220s in the US has the same positive impact on the US economy as if Boeing were to do same from design to delivery, all in the US, for a comparable airliner? It looks like you missed out on thousands of jobs. I'm inclined to think Boeing pays you too much -- if they pay you at all. Your style of writing (really, emojis?) suggests that you're something else than what you claim.

@slapkit51 You're still not getting it. Airbus Canada got the cake and its parent Airbus SE magnanimously cut you a slice as a consolation prize. If Trump didn't clutch at every opportunity to impose tariffs, Bombardier might have failed nonetheless, leaving Boeing with one competitor less and hence, more opportunities to flog the 737 MAX. In other words, Boeing -- and the US -- would've gotten the whole cake. As it is now, the Airbus Mobile plant only assembles A220s for the US market, while Canada sees to the rest of the world. So, Canada won. I was alluding to your writing style in general, which is rife with errors. That's why I find it hard to believe that you're a consultant. You strike me more as blue-collar worker.
