I wouldn't go that far. CDU/CSU are fiscally conservative, the Finnish SPD is anything but.

@jasonwalker2950 People started caring about fiscal conservatism when the previous government went on a spending spree and someone needed to pick up the pieces.

@eddgar-ce3md The AfD is bound to gain more protest votes in a regional election than in a national one. Choosing a chancellor is serious business.

Germany's current economic woes are energy-related, and that's Merkel's and Scröder's doing. The wacky Greens certainly aren't doing Germany a favour by continuing to oppose nuclear energy. Their saner foreign colleagues -- and erstwhile copycats -- have already come around on the matter.

@mistressfreezepeach For starters, far-right Muricans insist that the US isn't a democracy, but rather, a "republic". I don't think they're keen on equality, diversity, science, philosophy and art either. You forgot religion, which they tend to go ape over.
