@masterlightjames950 Oh, but NATO air power was easily holding the Taliban back in Afghanistan. The Taliban only launched their final assault when said air power was no longer applied, as per Trump's ill-considered withdrawal deal.

@LloydTaray-bt7ho Alas, your reply makes little sense. The Afghan Air Force had few aircraft, many of which escaped abroad before the collapse of the Ghani government. Quite a few of them were Russian-made, too -- some even gifted by Russia. Don't forget that Russia keenly supported the NATO-led ISAF military mission in Afghanistan.

Yeah, yeah. Russia, since its European part extends all the way to the Ural mountains, has a great many Russian Europeans. That's geography for you. I'm just not sure most European Russians will be on Putin's side when push comes to shove. It's like there were no true Communists left when the Soviet Union imploded. It was all out of bitter necessity.
