@buravan1512 Why has Sweden had to endure Russia's unwanted attentions then? Russian infiltrations of Swedish territorial waters alone are infamous, but Russian military aircraft habitually violate Swedish airspace, too. Popular opinion towards NATO membership is a good indicator of whether Russia is a problem or not. Polls show that Swedes clearly see Russia as a problem.

@buravan1512 Russian or not, perhaps you're too young to have heard of the infamous Whiskey on the Rocks incident. Similar infiltrations, only not quite as dramatic, continue to this day. If you're not young, you're certainly naïve. Russia routinely jams GPS whenever there are military exercises in Norway, endangering civil air transport not only in Norway, but also in Sweden and Finland. Russia has also engaged in other forms of hybrid warfare, like making asylum seekers cross into Norway -- on bike, of all things. Say, do you live under a rock?

@Janshevik The Winter War is a reason for both Finland and Ukraine to join NATO.

@ksb921 I suppose India should've declared itself neutral in order to stave off colonisation by Britain. I'm sure it would've worked wonders.
3
@ksb921 Whatever, but India sure was colonised by Britain. So, it was because of your neutrality that you ended up subjugated? And you still think it's a viable strategy in this day and age with a treacherous neighbour like Russia?

@soreeyez You're trying to disregard less flattering parts of Russian history. Besides, your hero, Putin ,is invoking history whenever he sees fit. Cherry-picking, in other words.
2
@soreeyez Don't play silly buggers.

@Alex-wn5pd After the losses incurred in Ukraine, Russia can't manage a hot war for years -- decades even -- to come. Post-Putin Russia will crawl back into its shell -- until the next Putin arises.

@buravan1512 Against Russian aggression, dopey head.

@michaelpencio9573 There's no opposition among NATO members against Finland -- or Sweden, for that matter -- joining. Their leaders and diplomats have between shuttling all over to make their intentions known and gauge opinions. Both countries are net contributors rather than net beneficiaries to NATO.

@soreeyez Finland's history with Russia is suddenly very current. Russia just pulled a Winter War on Ukraine. The analogy is clear to everyone, even those with a passing interest in history.
1
@soreeyez Oh, you insist on playing some more. I could start with Georgia, Crimea and now, Ukraine, but if you want to know about activities that have specifically targeted Finland and Sweden, there's an abundance of infiltrations of territorial waters and air space violations. More often than not, the latter are mock attacks that can't be dispelled as navigational errors.

@Limon Cello There's such a thing as due democratic process. We're not hotheads like you southerners.

@malindaallen718 When Sweden becomes a full-fledged member of NATO, it has to come to its fellow member's aid should Russia invade. No freebies for Sweden.
