Really now? Last year, my erstwhile neighbour from Holland sailed to the Red Sea onboard his frigate, as part of Operation Prosperity Guardian. He's a bit of a wild one, so maybe he's cavorting somewhere in Thailand instead? Maybe they all are, the US sailors included. You insult your own.

Europe is a whole continent. The Nordic countries have all gone carbon-free in electricity and they're exporting their excess -- to an energy-starved Germany, among others. No Russian oil or gas either. Germany is not representative of Europe as a whole, and sadly, the Nordic countries aren't either.

The Nordic countries power data centres purely with carbon-free electricity, which for a good part comes from windmills. The cool climate keeps the servers relatively cool, too. Google, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and Apple see the beauty of it, but you must be the cleverest of the lot.

@malikjackson9337 Natgas usage is practically limited to the industry, and because of relatively cheap electricity and a robust grid, it's reserved for industrial processes that can't do without. Anyhoo, you may want to reread my comment. I specifically wrote "carbon-free in electricity". You can't command people to get rid of their ICE cars overnight and buy an EV. By the way, the Netherlands is just about the worst reference point here. Like an Amsterdam druggie, the Netherlands became hooked on natgas. Ironically, the country still has massive reserves of its own, but if they tap into them, the ground starts shaking and buildings crumble. Or the Wadden Sea, which is deservedly on the UNESCO's World Heritage List, gets spoilt.

@cosmicbear88-23 Why would you have me speak Polish, of all languages? Someone's trying to be cute. No doubt we'll be buying -- some, but less and less. Our electricity is already completely carbon-free. It's only a matter of time before demand for oil is such that Saudi Arabia, with its lowest production cost, is the sole supplier.

Germany is making great strides in the Energiewende. Mind you, the USA is managing a similar drastic energy turnaround, only in the opposite direction. Kudos to both for changing tack so effectively.

@Lawrence4000-s3k It can be easily argued that the USA isn't meeting its NATO target. 3.4% divided by 2 is less than 2%. Correct me if I'm wrong.
