Aren't we in the driver's seat already? Our use of renewable energy will exceed 50% by the end of this year.

@NGC1433 Not true. Coal is a relative minor energy source for us. Its consumption is easily surpassed by nuclear energy, hydropower, wood fuels and even wind power -- each. We're still on track for carbon-neutrality by 2035. How about you? No need to answer if you're ashamed.

The same goes for the very north of Europe. No drought, but above-average precipitation.

And Finland benefits from post-glacial rebound, too. Rising sea levels don't matter, because the land rises even faster.

Way to go, Captain Obvious.

@islandwills2778 There's limit to how much geothermal energy you can practically extract. There are residential neighbourhoods in Scandinavia where geothermal heat pumps have become so commonplace that their performance is permanently degraded.

@islandwills2778 Going deeper is fine for district heating, but for individual households the cost is prohibitive.

Yeah, but it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Russia is bankrupting itself in the process.

Source: trust me bro.

Not quite. North Africa is becoming uninhabitable.
