@norman4588 Iggy has consumed enough vodka already. Give that last brain cell of his a fighting chance.

@alpharius_nox The USA lost the Vietnam War, even though there was no US surrender. Similarly, Napoleon suffered his worst defeat in Russia, and Russia still considers it a great victory of theirs. There was no French surrender then either.

@wisenber All the same, pulling out of Vietnam amounted to the US losing the war. With South Vietnam overrun by the communists -- which the US intervention was supposed to prevent -- the outcome certainly doesn't qualify as a stalemate. In the Russo-Ukrainian War, Russia won't surrender unconditionally, but it will eventually have to agree to conditions that won't be exactly favourable to Russia. And those conditions are worsening by the day.

@wisenber Your logic escapes me. Russia clearly failed at its objective, too, and neither is the country at risk. What's at risk is Putin's political future, which is about the only reason why this war is still ongoing.

@bobsink624 Russia might be able to destroy Finland by nuking it, but that would be suicidal on so many levels. With conventional means of warfare, Finland is even a tougher nut to crack than Ukraine. It's ambush country, and with a vast trained reserve, there would be a well-armed soldier lying in wait behind every tree and boulder. The strongest artillery in Europe would grind Russian columns to a pulp -- if Finnish and NATO air power wouldn't get to them first. Russia -- not even under Putin -- would be so daft as to do a Ukraine on Finland.
