@anthonyofarrell513 I think that honour goes to Russia. There's a Baltic-Karelian population with an estimated size of 11,000 bears.

Ei Dirst Not a problem with the right rifle or shotgun. It's a "bear" necessity in the northern parts of Northern Europe.

@inharmonywithearth9982 OK, SHOUTING treehugger, I haven't killed a single bear and I hope I never have to. It's just that as apex predators, bear have a similar diet to ours. I've encountered wild bears while fishing, berry-picking and once when hunting. Our young hunting dog decided a bear was more exciting prey than an elk. Except for the dog, no one present was pleased by the encounter. Shooting a bear without a license is a serious offence and the few licenses that are awarded annually concern bears that have suffered injuries or pose a public hazard. I guess that in your la-la-land such things don't happen, but in the real world they do.

@findingsolutions198 I replied to a follow-up comment that referred to the whole of Europe. FYI, Europe ends at the Ural Mountains, deep inside Russia.
