Comments by "peabase" (@peabase) on "What’s behind Germany’s decision to order the closure of 4 Russian consulates? | DW News" video.
What's keeping Finland from closing Russia's consulate in Åland? The last latent remnant of Finnlandisierung?

@palar4195 Now you're just being silly. The border wall will cover a short stretch, and it serves to discourage Russia from using asylum seekers as a weapon, like Belarus did against Poland and Lithuania. Don't thumb up your own comments. It's seedy.

@mohamedhussein4124 Uh, NATO has no reason to attack Russia unless Russia attacks first. Nuclear strikes against Finland are problematic for Russia, because in the process, Russia would treat Saint Petersburg to nuclear fallout as well. Finland has fallout shelters in sufficient numbers, but Russia does not. There would also be the small matter of NATO raining down nukes on Russia in retaliation. You would also have to ask yourself how you're going to survive the nuclear winter. I think you'd come to envy those who died in a flash.

@palar4195 NATO had plenty of reason to attack Serbia after the country went on a genocidal streak in Kosovo. Yugoslavia had effectively ceased to exist long before. Before you snap into troll mode, no, there's no evidence whatsoever of Ukraine committing genocide in the Donbas.

Is Germany keen on Kaliningrad, you think? After WW2, the USSR forcibly expelled the German populace and repopulated the territory with Soviet citizens. It it were to rejoin Germany, Köningsberg would be like a colony to Germany, except with none of the perks of colonialism -- only the burdens. Germany would be saddled with half a million Russians whose standard of living is clearly below that of Germans in general. In order to offer the locals the same basic services that the rest of Germany enjoys, it would have to pump a lot of money into the place. Maybe a once-again-bankrupt Russia will try to sell Kaliningrad to Germany -- as it allegedly tried in 1990 -- but in order to succeed this time, it would need to expel the Russians first. Me thinks Kaliningrad's best bet is to seek independence. I hear they've picked a name already. Amberland.

@palar4195 Which part of "genocidal streak" don't you understand?

@palar4195 "Greater Serbia" is another.

@BananaRama1312 The Germans coined the term. Wikipedia is your friend.

@nvelsen1975 Der Spiegel spoke of 1990. The other reports of "deals" are much vaguer.
