The Moskva had long-range SAMs, short-range SAMs, AA guns and a close-in weapon system. Still, Russia's proud flagship is sleeping with the fishes👎

@ronwhitehouse23 Real men don't hit women, Ronnie.

@abdiyousuf7882 So you're advocating that Russia escalates the war to NATO territory? That'll be the end of you, too, dum-dum.
6
When sitting at a table, Putin needs to grip it like his life depended on it. I suppose we won't see the garden gnome anywhere near a bike.
5
@stevenliew2507 Wow, a truck. Dubya flew a supersonic fighter, but he didn't make a great world leader.

@francismusali676 I don't care much for the US and their social failures, but having travelled extensively in both Russia and the US, I'm still partial to the latter. Have you been?
4
Your love for Putin doesn't seem to extend to your government, which condemned Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
3
@mohamedsafanmohamedhamdan5903 You think China wouldn't be affected by Nuclear Holocaust? If it's not the blasts or the radio-activity, then the Nuclear Winter will get them. You, too.

Then they don't put their minds to a lot of things. When Putin gained power, he pledged to modernise and diversify Russia's economy. The target he set for himself was boosting Russia's GDP per capita to match that of Portugal, the poorest EU member at the time, during the course of two presidential terms. More than two decades later, Portugal's GDP per capita is twice that of Russia.

@Dominic-s9q None of what you wrote makes economic sense. The GDP figures (Russia's $12,575 vs. Portugal's $24,495) predate the sanctions, when the rouble was still a freely exchangeable currency. Raw materials are nice to have, but Russia is by and large unable to turn them into manufactured goods. That's another endemic problem Putin has failed to solve, despite repeated promises to the contrary. The military is a drain on the economy. I understand Russia has been very systematic in looting Ukraine's resources such as grain, toilet bowls and washing machines, but I highly doubt they cover the cost of the lost materiel and expended ordnance, to say nothing of the pensions owed to the fallen soldiers' families.

It's not a fair comparison. Putin is a president-for-life.

@Reinhard_Erlik Uncle Joe was loved by one and all, too. People didn't know any different. History repeats itself.

Well, he did work as a taxi driver after the USSR collapsed. Probably the only honest job he's ever held.
1
@iamAdeOba I can't think of a better explanation than first-hand experience. So, have you been to both countries?
1
A wild guess -- you're not Ukrainian?
1
@trajkoivanov7118 Made-up stories don't qualify as provocation.
1
@shinaoyemade1753 Oh, you can't spell either ;-)
1
@xmanykl4400 Exactly. Russia will concoct a story that one of the defenders played with matches.
1
Aren't you keen on nuclear war. If Russia doesn't play ball, maybe India could do the honours and nuke itself? The effect won't be much different.
1
@Midnightcr3w247 What are you blithering about? The point I'm trying to make here is that a nuclear holocaust will be the end of humanity as we know it.
1
@Dominic-s9q It's not my forecast or, for that matter, a forecast. Those were official IMF figures. If you don't like the IMF, there are the UN's and the World Bank's somewhat older figures, but they tell a very similar story. Russia's GDP per capita is roughly half that of Portugal's. So, Putin has failed to deliver on his own promises. All I wrote was factual. Facts are a biatch, aren't they?
1
Zelenskyy took out the Moskva. What happened?
1
@agapp11able Be that as it may, Russia lost its prime naval asset in the Black Sea. Also, you're not very observant. There was the supply ship in Berdyansk and several landing craft near and at Snake Island. Cope!
1
@agapp11able There-there, dry your tears. You claimed there weren't any other sinkings and I proved you wrong. And now you're having a temper tantrum.
1
@agapp11able It's always the same excuse. When a Russian warship is struck by the Ukrainians, the Kremlin tries to peddle a story that a Russian sailor was careless with matches. That's coping to the extreme. And don't copy me.
1
@agapp11able You're the joke here. If Russia can't prevent a major warship from sinking because a sailor plays with matches, it shouldn't put out to sea. How far do you think you can stretch the truth?
1
@franknunoo4075 Ukraine is a career-destroying mistake of Putin's. Maybe India can offer him refuge? By the looks of it, he'll be among friends.
