  2. Wouldn't that be tantamount to admitting defeat? I mean, if what started out as a two-day special military operation turns into a global thermonuclear war, something is terribly amiss. No, before it comes to that, a 4D chess master would cleverly withdraw, knowing full well that NATO won't pursue his bruised and battered troops into Russia proper. Putin needn't worry that the Russians won't understand either. Already 40% of the populace think it's OK for Russia to call it quits and withdraw.
