  1. What's more relevant is what the world would do. Just like after the Tiananmen Square Massacre, there would be economic consequences for China. This time, however, the consequences would be far more profound given China's vastly increased international trade. Since "Made in China" would be off-putting to many consumers, China would lose manufacturing to other countries, like India and Vietnam. Also, in a political sense, the Belt and Road Initiative would be a victim -- every elected politician would think twice about giving China a foothold, if not out of principle, then for fear of a voter backlash.
