@dylanvogler2165 Would there be a practical difference, even if he declared himself tsar?

@dylanvogler2165 I'm talking about practicalities, not illusions.

That'll be Russian Civil War 2.

It's interesting why autocracies like Russia need to pretend to be democracies. Putin should crown himself tsar already and be done with the pretence.

Saddam got a full 100% of the vote. Then they hung him.

The expectation of a free and fair election in Russia doesn't amount to meddling.

@Redpilled66 Russia is only formally out of a recession because it's plundering its own national wealth fund to produce arms, which literally go up in smoke in Ukraine.

@richardwainwright507 At the risk of being pedantic, Putin's 20-year rule hasn't been continuous. He did the infamous switcheroo with Medvedev, who served as a placeholder 'president' for four years until Putin, who served as 'prime minister' in the mean time, could resume his presidential duties. It's also interesting to note that Medvedev has evolved during the years. He used to be Putin's lovable lapdog, but now he's his snarling attack dog. The right role in the right place.

By all indicators the West is best. Democracy-wise, the UK scores 18th place among the world's democracies. Russia, 144th. Illusion that.

Theirs is a presidential system. The UK is a parliamentary democracy. The Economist's Democracy Index puts the UK in 18th place, whereas Russia manages only 144th place. Putting things into perspective is not your forte, it seems.

Ruscia sounds more Latin.
