@Itapirkanmaa2 Not true, and I guess that with "EU edict" you're clumsily referring to an EU directive. It still needs to be enacted into law domestically. Even so, Finland and other countries managed to introduce a exemptions to the latest EU firearms directive, mainly catering to reservists' access to semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines. It's not ideal, but it doesn't interfere with me keeping up my proficiency as a reservist shooter.

@Itapirkanmaa2 Don't makes up silly stories. An edict is something an absolute monarch would issue. It's nothing akin to a EU directive. Were you in a prolonged coma when the latest EU firearm directive was devised? Are you even a gun owner, or are you just a fiery fanboy?

@Itapirkanmaa2 But the EU isn't saying any such thing. And Finland is fully involved in deciding about EU directives. It's interesting that you want to compare notes with the US. In the EU, there's nothing akin to a federal executive order. Now, are you going to rail against the US, comparing it with the Soviet Union? Please do -- I'd like to see the responses. It's interesting that you didn't confirm that you are a gun owner. I would sooo explain your ignorance.

@Itapirkanmaa2 What do trade regulations have to do with anything? This is about the EU firearms directive. If you want to stray from the topic at hand and lambast the EU in general, go find a more suitable forum. Gun fanboy.

@Itapirkanmaa2 Concerns us equally? It appears the EU firearms directive didn't concern you at all, because you know nothing about how it came into being. Every gun owner and active reservist in Finland was concerned about it. We even had our most senior Greens' MEP speak in favour of exemptions, which raised a lot of eyebrows among her foreign colleagues. Just keep playing your FPS and leave the serious talk to those who have a real stake in this.

@zoolkhan I don't know about you, but I could actually live off the land in the far north. It's not too many generations ago that my ancestors did just that. And why would we set off firecrackers in St. Petersburg? We didn't want it in WW2, let alone now. We're not in the business of military aggression -- that's the Russians' prerogative.

@anttieskelinen1 You're right about the "Grafton" rifles, but the Arisakas weren't war booty from the Russo-Japanese War. Imperial Russia bought them from Japan to equip their second-line troops in Finland. They couldn't have possibly been captured from the Japanese, because Japan only adopted the Arisaka after the Russo-Japanese War.

@PetrCívela We have nuclear shelters, under office and apartment buildings exceeding a certain size. Finnish building code demands 'em.
