You're not being fair. What else do you expect from Putin? He's pulled out all the stops: he took a huge political risk by invading Ukraine and trying to take Kyiv, sacrificing tens of thousands of his troops and severely depleting his war machine. Taking Kyiv and deposing Zelenskyy didn't pan out, but you can't blame Putin for not trying. Short of starting a nuclear war, I can't think of anything further he could do to get rid of Zelenskyy.
