@abj136 You have to forget the new ice age being trumpeted by these same people in the late 70s. It was CoLD in 1978. That's the crook in the so-called hockey stick, when temperatures rebounded to more normal levels. The trend of slow warming since the end of the last ice age remains in force. You just have to forget how hot it was in the 1930s and 1940s and ensuing 40 years of cooling. Yes, the world is getting warmer. Our role in it is still very much in question, and could all be wiped away by natural vulcanism or a meteor strike at virtually any time. That's what you should be worried about. Medieval warming period was a boon to planet and people, alike. Learn more context and don't memory-hole everything that ever happened before 1978. And while you're at it, check the extent of polar ice. It was supposed to be all gone 10 years ago, according to all the alarmists. Polar bears are doing great. Walruses are not committing suicide out of despondence and desperation due to climate change. Forests are burning because of toxic government policies, not global warming.

@sheilagarrick Fear mongers got you. Guess what? Life is hard! We find a way to thrive in ALL climates.

The people who want me to become a beggar to serve their goals and enrich them are the same people who never saw a war they didn't like (Massive pollution and waste) and let our forests burn catastrophically every year. They also don't care about the water and land pollution their green schemes cause. These aren't people who care about other people, let alone the planet.

@michaelandrews4783 Do you know how much it costs and the other enviro trade-offs there are?

@appleseedmusicshop3096 We won't invent our way out of anything if the government crushes our ability to make things, by depriving us of energy and supply.

YT Masters don't like us having this convo. The fascists don't approve.

It's been political from the start. The "you will own nothing and be happy" crowd have been pushing "the sky is falling" propaganda because their solutions all align with their political goals. We need a holistic approach to environment, not just focus on one thing, and everything else be damned. Renewables aren't a panacea. Many environment-improving technologies are blocked by the global warming crowd. Many air-pollution-reduction strategies are basically forbidden by government agencies. These people aren't serious about saving the planet. They want to use your fears to implement disastrous policies that empower and enrich a very small number of people at the expense of everyone else, and make it illegal to even try to criticize them. It all starts with "the science is settled," which science never is. Not without open debate and proven replicability. ALL of the current 'accepted' models fail to predict current climate, when you feed them data from the past and project forward. They ALL massively over-shoot global temps when you try to make them work off known data. But they're "settled science." Not because anything is settled, but because they want science to stop once they get the conclusions they want.

@expandranon It's not denialism to criticize the stupid and highly authoritarian solutions on offer. They're WAY out over their skis on the policy side, ending in avoidable poverty and net increase in pollution.

@towerofgodfan4107 You obviously aren't paying attention. But you're right about one thing. Western media has been censored and manipulated for decades. It's just harder to hide, nowadays, due to the Internet. But they're trying. Believe me, they're trying to turn the Internet into one-voice media just like broadcast, print and cable media were captured, long ago.

@michaelh4227 The oil lobby is definitely a thing, but demonizing fossil fuels without any real alternatives is not constructive. All we're doing is de-industrializing the West and ensuring that all the manufacturing on which we still depend is made overseas where they don't have any environmental standards at all! We're cutting off our noses to spite our faces. There are lots of things we need to do better. Running over everyone with a set of "approved solutions" dreamt up by the people who fly around the world in private jets and carbon footprints the size of small cities is not going to solve anything. All it does is give the few more power over the many, with the power to impose their bad ideas on ALL of us, by force. You kinda LIKE seeing force used, because you KNOW you are smarter than all the "science deniers." Don't tear down all of civilization because you think it's flawed until you KNOW what's going to replace it. That planning has clearly not taken place, judging by all the giant windmills I see, and all the EVs burning up or sitting on the lot, unsold. And that's ignoring the matter of informed consent, which is not permitted in your world view. Now go get in line for your 8th booster.

@majesticwolf-q6u It becomes political because politics overrides all else. You want to get your way? Enlist that entity that enjoys a monopoly on force! Government! People make it political so they can FORCE others to comply with their wishes. Those who use force eventually see everything they built wither and die, due to opposing forces they, themselves create by using force in the first place. COVID. Catastrophic, man-made global warming. They were political from the beginning and pushed the hardest by power seekers.

They just have the approved levels of fear. They're not serious about solutions. They're just waiting for the government to tell them what to do and which heretics to single out for scorn and hopefully prison.
1
@old-pete Because the regulatory burden is too great. The government has created a setting where nobody can do anything without special dispensation from the government. The global warming crowd don't want there to be any happy endings. They want us in permanent state of crisis, so they can run roughshod over the rest of us with whatever half-baked "solutions" they propose.
1
@old-pete That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying the regulations make it virtually impossible for anyone to build and operate an atomic power plant. Lots of ridiculous regs. Did you know they can't use granite in a plant's construction, because it's too radioactive? The regs don't make sense. It's on purpose, to keep us from building plants.
