  1. After Orwell, a then-socialist, learned about the gulag, open support of Soviet socialism was no longer possible. Since that time, they've been de-constructing capitalism, because openly advocating socialism wouldn't fly. After 100 years of the take-down of free-market capitalism, millions who know no history openly support socialism. So the plan worked.
