@ThePuttercross We already have a huge, safe fusion source called the sun. Power satellites could do it. Or just export much of our industry into space, where energy and vacuum exist for the taking. We're still not ready, as a species, to put a bunch of beam weapons in space, which is what power satellites would amount to. We haven't conquered the Solar System, yet. Much to do.

Yes. If catastrophic climate change is anthropogenic, then we're basically fucked. No amount of carbon taxes or anything else proposed by seemingly panic-stricken "leaders" will do anything but redistribute a bunch of wealth into the hands of those "leaders." The best bulwark against catastrophe is a thriving free market. Governments just aren't that nimble. Governments are also not that smart. Their approach to rising sea levels is to dump money into the hands of rich people with beachfront property.
