@timtyler3524 : The 1850s, and again in the 1960s. Recall, the Civil Rights Act was passed in SPITE of the Democrats' attempts to block it. Republicans lost their ball sacks in the 1990s, when Gingrich made the calculation to out-Demokkkrat the Democrats, in order to hold a Republican majority in Congress.

The Inspector-General of whatever agency (doesn't matter which) generally white-washes corruption. And this Horowitz guy is an Obama appointee. You see it in the "lack of candor" euphemism they use instead of "perjury." Unless it's a Trump associate, in which case it's just "perjury," and they throw the book at them. That's the beauty of going after Manaforte the way the Dem-Establishment did. It's a "sauce-for-the-goose" thing that makes prosecuting the Dem cabal that has monetized foreign policy by weaponizing government.

@ashishpatel350 : The reason those religions persist and grow is because they were designed to serve political ends of their founders. A lot of good wisdom. A lot of bullshit, too. The idea of One God was what unified Hebrew tribes under one banner, when otherwise they would be at war and in competition with each other (which is how Rome defeated most tribal societies: turn one against the other and stand back). Mohammed saw how well that worked and so he appropriated most of the mythology and declared his own offshoot. Kind of like L. Ron Hubbard with his Scientology. The Christian sects that were "more pure" didn't survive as long, because they didn't compromise their principles in order to grow their Church in this world. Christians tweaked the original Jewish religion so they could recruit more gentiles. "Like pork? Guess what? We're having pork at our next potluck!"

@Discopuss : Not true for RINO Republicans. They'll cross the aisle at the drop of a hat, and to hell with the party, if they think they can make political gains for themselves, individually. But a little-reported fact is it takes a 2/3 majority to unseat a sitting president. They'll never get that.

@totallyjonesin : Yes. I saw that one the other day.

I think the bottom line, here, is that Trump really doesn't care what they do. Sure, he wants to win, but he's not afraid of losing political power. He'll just go back to being a millionaire. (I think one of the reasons he doesn't want anybody seeing his taxes is he ain't as rich as they make him out to be.)
