  1. How did I ever survive the first 25 years of my life without my own mobile phone???? I remember it being a big deal when I could finally afford my own land line to my apartment. Somehow I was never bored. There was always something to do OUTSIDE.

  2. Ancient taboo against praising your children or holding them up for attention from others. It was said to "make the gods jealous" and bring doom and destruction to you and your children. There's a kernel of truth in that. Don't bring your kids into the public realm. It's not good for them. It draws creeps like a magnet.
