  3.  @terrid.9204  : True. But Amused is correct. Nixon decided to cover up for political reasons. If he'd been honest about the break-in, the scandal probably wouldn't've touched him. It wasn't Watergate that turned the heartland against him. It was choosing to LIE about it, after the fact. No, Nixon didn't green-light the break-in as far as I know. The underlying crime wasn't his doing. Dems tried to get Trump much the same way, but without an underlying crime OR a cover-up.

  5. IG Horowitz couldn't single out one leaker, because so many FBI agents and higher-ups had corrupt relationships with journalists. The top guys set the culture. The mid-level guys ARE the culture. The whole institution is corrupt.

  6.  @ericvega5756  : FBI was created in 1908. Prohibition enabled its weaponization to "fight organized crime" that the government enabled with the Volstead Act. Yet another problem created by government to be solved by yet another power grab by government.
