  2. Venezuela's oil is the heavy crude, which is costlier to extract and refine, as I understand it. Venezuela DID get screwed by the U.S. in one respect. Nobody expected in a million years that the USA would be oil-independent in 2019, in spite of all the best efforts of the deporter-in-chief for most of the last decade. Everybody with their trendline analysis was once again proven wrong, and Venezuelan oil is barely profitable, if at all, the way they've destroyed their own infrastructure, by cashing in on the early oil revenues without reinvesting in future oil development. By nationalizing much of it, they basically chased away everybody willing to help them extract and refine their vast oil reserves. But everybody got a microwave, because it's racist and fascist not to have one.
