  1. As I recall, there was supposed to be a quid-pro-quo involving border security and it of course no such bill ever passed. I remember being semi-OK with the amnesty, if it meant movement on the border security issue. After that bait-and-switch, I never trusted Lucy to hold the ball for my kick.

  2.  @GretchentheAlligator  : Just keep track of who votes for what. Not as many, but still enough Swamp Creatures in the Republican party to make real reform of ANYthing virtually impossible, by the time they all get done with the fine print.

  5. They've all postured about it since Reagan, at least. They make their speeches, then they do nothing. Reagan's amnesty was tied to actual measures which never really eventuated. They've been posturing and doing nothing, to try to win BOTH sides of the electorate to their side. It's pissed me off since the '80s. Nice run-down. I forgot Simpson-Mazzoli. Styx doin' his research 'n' passin' it on to us.
