In the Jewish students I've known, I've seen more variation within families in terms of talent and discipline, than the differences reported between some Jewish tribe and the rest of the world. For instance, the older brother was so solid, I could rely on him to write practice tests and present them to the class, just like any professional teacher might, and the younger brother was pretty indifferent to the course material and had to take some classes more than once. If there is a Jewish advantage, it's cultural. It's because they try harder.
