  1.  @bobmajew53  : Yes. And the interchangeable part put hand-crafted wagon-makers out of business. And created new jobs nobody even imagined before that. There's no shortage of things for humans to do. Automation is a natural progression. Of course, there's no need to artificially accelerate automation by artificially inflating the minimum wage. The first minimum wage law spelled the end of pin-setters in bowling alleys. Used to be a good way for a kid to make a few dollars when dollars were scarce. But high-minded individuals decided that was a bad thing.

And they never once think that the same people they despise are the ones who can't wait to exercise those wonderful new powers as politicians and bureaucrats.

  4. Coca leaves are good medicine. Cocaine is bad news. I bet there'd be a thriving legal market in coca leaves for people needing a mild painkiller. Making it illegal is what motivates and pays for people to concentrate it into powder.
