  3. @seanbergin7461 There were schools before that. But they were all locally created, locally supported, and locally staffed. Sometimes the whole town got together and hired a dedicated school teacher from the city. UK is smaller than the US, but the pain of centralized control is just as bad and the control reaches far deeper, due to zero constitutional guarantees of free speech or the right to keep and bear arms. The British government can declare any kind of speech to be a "threat" and put people in jail for it and censor their speech openly. The U.S. government has to be sneakier about its censorship, because of the Bill of Rights in our constitution. The USA is the ONLY nation in the world that asserts that our natural rights supersede the government. Every other "democracy" on the planet believes that rights are granted or removed at the pleasure of the national government. The only long-term solution is decentralization. Let the local communities decide what's best for them and pay their own way. Only national governments can run deficits year after year, to the ruination of the entire country.
