  1. Germany's making the same disastrous socialist moves that Hitler made. Set priorities at the top, without considering the ramifications everywhere below. His government crippled rolling stock and engines for the railroads, because they thought it was a good idea to have cheap train rides to the mountains for the citizens on holiday. Demand for passenger cars and engines to pull them went through the roof, degrading the rails, wearing out the engines, leading to a lot of people freezing because there weren't sufficient freight cars and engines to ship coal to the cities. Oh, they had the coal. It was piling up to dangerous heights at the mines. They just had no working rail cars and engines to pick it up and deliver it. But the people really liked the cheap train fares! The west needs to re-read its Adam Smith, to remind itself the true source of prosperity is a free market.
